PRESERVING THE PAST – gìn giữ quá khứ

Life has changed a lot over the past 50 years, and there are many good pastimes which seem  to be dying out. Work in groups and

* search for a past tradition or pastime which you highly appreciate

* give reasons why you like it

* work out a plan to help preserve it

Then make a poster presenting your ideas and share it with your class.

Handicraft villages in Vienam have an important part to play in economic development. We are a bit concerned about how it is being implemented.

Traditional Vietnamese handicrafts are rich and diverse and we think that handicrafts need to be preserved, not developed, such as the making of drum in Doi Tam village in Ha Nam, or Dong Ho painting in Bac Ninh Province.

We need to find a way of making traditional craft villages a tourism attraction so that they have a better chance of surviving. However, in my opinion, we have to think very carefully about anything of each particular handicraft before we do anything to preserve it.

Besides, goverment should give laws to protect them so that craftsmen still have enough money to their life.
